As the name suggests, you are free to manage your canoe trip as you wish.
You take your luggage with you, you have the choice between sleeping in the different campsites along the river or daring to bivouac along the route, or even combining the two.
For routes of 2 to 5 days between Prades and Brassac-les-Mines, possibility of overnight stays in a hotel , B&B or gîte, located near the river.
All along the route, near the river, there are all shops for refueling in the different sites that the route passes through, such as Langeac , Lavoute- Chilhac , Brioude and Brassac les Mines.
All our routes leave from PRADES (Haute-Loire 43) and arrive at a maximum of ORBEIL (Puy de Dôme 63) or 105 km. > See the route

PRADES – LANGEAC

This course is certainly the most sporty in the valley. Numerous rapids will allow you to discover the joys of white water in a canoe or kayak. All along the route, you will discover the basalt rocks typical of our valley, once resulting from the strong volcanic activity of the Auvergne mountains. LANGEAC – LAVOUTE CHILHAC

A portion of the gorge where nature has remained in control. Herons are watching you, trout and salmon are hiding behind the rocks. The lucky ones will be able to see them provided they remain discreet and silent! Halfway, the village of Chilhac overlooks the river. Magnificent basalt organs overlook the river.
A new canoe slide Lavoûte Chilhac . The Allier forms a meander surrounding the village town. A breathtaking view is offered to you over the priory . This building is the first Cluniac abbey in the region. A “visit” stop is strongly recommended.
LAVOUTE CHILHAC – LA VIALETTE

This route invites you to relax , 12 km of greenery, animals of all kinds, calm and serenity. Dazzling arrival at the foot of the fortress of St Ilpize .
LA VIALETTE – BRIOUDE

Last course of the Val d' Allier , very wild , the river is however calmer before arriving in the plain of La Limagne. A visit to the pedestrian streets of Brioude is possible during a week's hike. A magnificent beach will await you on arrival. Indeed, the reservoir of the Bageasse dam offers calm and warm water for taking a few relaxing swims after a hard day of effort.

We change departments, we change rivers! The Allier now flows peacefully, forming wide meanders . Ideal to end a week of sailing by letting yourself be carried away by the waves. Viewpoints , landscapes and vestiges will enhance this end of your stay . Pebble beaches are available for you to sunbathe peacefully .
